Ranking & rules, in the open

We put our ranking, paid-exposure and fee rules in plain sight. What you see is governed by consistent rules that do not favour payers, and they are enforced in code, not just promised.

How organic ranking works

Organic search results are ordered only by when a listing was posted or refreshed (newer first), plus the filters, area and distance you choose.

  • The ranking function never reads any paid or subscription field, so no amount a landlord pays can change their organic position.
  • This rule is enforced in the data layer and in code, and guarded by automated CI tests: any violation fails the build.

Paying us never changes the order you see in organic results.

How paid exposure is labelled

The only paid exposure is “Gold Exposure”, and it is fully separated from organic ranking.

  • Paid exposure appears only in slots clearly labelled “Ad”, never blended into organic results disguised as a normal listing.
  • Paid slots are capped at 20% of any page; the rest is always purely organic.
  • We have removed pin-to-top / “featured” mechanics that pollute ranking, and will not build them.

Fees, all at once

We show the all-in total up front, with no fees sneaked in at checkout.

  • Landlords list on a single subscription (a fixed monthly fee per account, listing slots included), not pay-per-volume, and not monetised through hidden add-ons.
  • For transactional stays (e.g. daily), the service fee and tax are itemised on the payout statement; the tenant sees the real all-in total.
  • Deposits and rent are always held in escrow by a third-party payment partner; the platform never touches the money and holds no funds pool.

Your data is yours

We keep you with service and trust, not lock-in.

  • In Account settings you can “Download my data” at any time: your profile, listings, contracts, reviews and chat history (JSON).
  • You can also permanently delete your account and all personal data whenever you want.
  • Ranking and fee rules are public; whether you stay on NOKNOK is your call.

You can take your data with you anytime; that is what “no lock-in” means.
